NIGHT OF ULTIMATE AWESOME:
In honor of our tenth show, please join us for our biggest, most ambitious event ever. It's summer, so we're going outdoors and having this show on a roof in Long Island City. It's right on the water with an excellent view of the Manhattan skyline. We're also giving you more acts than ever with 13 comedians, musicians and storytellers.

featuring:
Better Than The Machine - one of NYC's top sketch comedy groups
Jon Braman - ukulele hip-hop
Dave Burdick - Q&A
Chappy - New Orleans-influenced songwriter
Chocolate Cake City - sketch comedy that has surprisingly little to do with baked goods
Trevor Exter - innovative cellist and songwriter, from NYC Soundtracks
D'yan Forest - sexy septuagenarian chanteuse
Tony Gloeggler - surprising and human poems
Ben Lerman - songs that will make you ashamed for laughing
Carol Lipnik - psychedelic cabaret singer from Coney Island
Novice Theory - accordion-slinging songs from Geo Wyeth
Jamie Scandal - surprisingly catchy tunes about missed opportunities and celebrity encounters
The War Ponies - uke-pop, fresh from The Gong Show

And, of course, short, funny movies from us and our friends. The evening begins at 6:00 pm and will go until late. Refreshments will be available. To get to the venue, take the 7 train to the Vernon/Jackson stop in L.I.C. Walk five blocks North to 46 Ave, then make a right and walk one block West to 5th St. Dusty Hollow Studio is located at 46-01 5th St. Rain date is the following day, Sunday August 31st. Second, thanks to you visitors of thebigthings.org. Yesterday we had 37 hits, which is a nice little spike compared to the past few months.

Happy Birthday to us! This month features performers all born in May. Come celebrate with us Saturday, May 24th at the Parkside Lounge. Festivities begin at 6:30 pm when Gio defies his age and attempts to Morris dance (skipping with bells and hankies) down Houston St, starting by the 1 train on the corner of Varick and ending at the venue (Ave. B). The doors open at 7:00 for the only variety show that gives you games, prizes, movies, music, dancing and CAKE! The evening ends with a mass jam session, so bring an instrument and learn Jackie Wilson’s “Higher and Higher” in the key of D. Performers include:

Jon Braman – ukulele hip-hop (born May 11)
myspace.com/jonbraman
Dave Burdick – surrealist storyteller and moviemaker (May 20)
www.daveburdick.com
Will Chrysanthos – eater of terrible things (May 20)
Gio Gaynor – Morris dancer and host (May 27)
Michael Wagner/Chappy – uke, tuba & sax band for your dancing pleasure (May 20)
